The Scotland County Environmental Health Division ensures that the public receives the highest quality of service in its implementation of the food, lodging, and institution program as mandated by the state of North Carolina. The mandated program is administered by us pursuant to Chapter 130A of the General Statutes of North Carolina.
There are numerous food service facilities operating in Scotland County and the number grows rapidly throughout the year. Certified employees issue permits for the operation of these facilities and are required to conduct facility inspections per year.
Employees in this mandated program are required to be Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) a by the North Carolina State Board of Sanitarian Examiners, and to meet authorization requirements set by the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
