Gilbert-Chappell Distinguished Poet Reading at Scotland County Memorial Library
Tuesday, March 27, 2018
Beth Copeland, The North Carolina Poetry Society’s Gilbert-Chappell Distinguished Poet for central North Carolina, and Camryn Massey, a 15-year-old sophomore at Scotland Early College High School, will present a poetry reading at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, at Scotland County Memorial Library, 312 West Church Street, Laurinburg.
The North Carolina Poetry Society’s Gilbert-Chappell Distinguished Poet Series brings together distinguished poets and student poets from eastern, central, and western regions of North Carolina. Student poets are selected from middle school, high school, college, and adults not currently enrolled in school. Student poets work on about a dozen pages of their own poetry.
Massey, who lives in Wagram, comes from a loving family of five with two supportive parents and siblings. She is passionate about writing poetry and also enjoys volunteering in school and in the community and participating in National Beta Club and the Technology Student Association.
