Retirement Benefits
Scotland County is committed to helping you prepare for a secure financial future. Whether you're just starting your career or planning to retire soon, our retirement benefits offer flexibility, support, and long-term value.
Employees working at least 1,000 hours annually are automatically enrolled in the North Carolina LGERS defined benefit pension plan. Employees contribute 6% of gross wages (pre-tax).
After 5 years of creditable service, you are vested and eligible for lifetime monthly payments based on your salary and service at retirement.
Register and manage your LGERS benefits via the ORBIT portal.
